Queen Mary aka “Bloody Mary” was born to King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. She became the first person to be Queen or Ireland and England as she took the throne in 1553.Soon after Mary being born Henry annulled his marriage to Catherine and married Anne Boleyn.
Ann Boleyn, Mary's mother, had encouraged Parliament to declare Mary illegitimate in fear for the throne to be challenged.
After the reign of her brother Edward who died , Mary quickly took over. She had a strict heresy law, as she tried to stop her father previous religious beliefs from the people. She became known as Bloody Mary because of her prosecutions of protestants and was unpopular to the people.
Similar to her father, Mary had feared that the throne would soon be passed on. This time it would be to her sister Elizabeth. Mary then married King Philip of Spain in hope for kids and a Catholic heir, to avoid her Catholic reforms from the past.
They had no kids however, and Mary later died due to cancer and the throne was passed on to her Protestant sister Elizabeth either way.
Quick Fact: Mary had arrested, or imprisoned her sister, a Protestant, " in the tower of London on suspicion of complicity" ( History.com) Even after Mary died, the Catholics in England still attacked Elizabeth.

Henry VIII:
King Henry VIII ruled England over the course of thirty six years. His rule brought so many thorough, and negatively received sweeping changes, that, it led the nation into the Protestant Reformation. The Protestant Reformation was when a little monk, known as Martin Luther opposed the Church's unholy ways of selling indulgences- which was the actual payment to the Church for one's sins. The "95 Theses" were then the remarkable document that was plastered on the entrance of the Palace of Versailles by little Martin Luther himself.
Henry VII is famously known for marrying a series of six wives for no true purposes of love, but of his search for political alliance, a healthy male heir, and marital bliss or lust.
* After the ruling of his father, Henry VII, his older brother Arthur was the one that was being prepared for the throne. Thus, Henry VIII focused more on Church Career, where he earned a wide education in languages, theology, music, sports, and poetry. Similarly to like his father, Henry VIII was NOT promised the throne.

When the Real Drama Comes In:
Although Henry VIII married his brother's widow, he became " infatuated with Anne Boleyn, a young woman in his wife's entourage"
( History.com) * There the Scandal, and Betrayal comes through King Henry VIII was also worried that his marriage to Catherine was cursed by God, being that he did marry his sister-in-law. " If a man marries his brother's wife, it is an act of impurity: he has dishonored his brother. They will be childless" (Leviticus 20:21) In fear, and in lust, Henry petitioned to get a papal annulment from the Pope, that would then free him to remarry. However, the Pope had disagreed. This only angered Henry VIII. |

It was not until his brother's death, through a sudden illness, that Henry VII was passed the throne. Henry then became next in line for the English Crown- and had betrothed his brother's widow, Catherine of Aragon.
Interesting Factoid: Arthur had betrothed Catherine of Aragon since the age of two (2)! An age where majority of us Americans cant even manage to say words, Arthur managed to marry the daughter of the Spanish rulers Ferdinand and Isabella.
