The Legacy of Henry VIII
King Henry VIII, father of the victorious Queen Elizabeth is known to be the creator of the Anglican Church. His main goal when creating this church was to be able to divorce Catherine of Argon so he would be able to marry Anne Boleyn. This act of supremacy cause him to be the leader of the new Church for England. Thus leading to the catholic church condemning him and excommunicating him from the original Church of England. Religious protest and uprisings later began to give unwanted attention to the monarchy. According to "people.opposingviews.com" it says " Decades of turmoil followed as Edward, Henry's successor, burned and destroyed all elaborate religious art, stained glass windows and statues in Catholic churches." This religious change led to many religious battles through the royal family. Therefore Queen Elizabeth I inherited a lot of religious troubles.
